Periodontal (Gum) Disease

Periodontal (Gum) Disease

Healthy gums and supporting tissues are essential to keeping your natural teeth for life. We emphasize preventive care and recommend examinations and cleanings at intervals appropriate for each patient’s periodontal condition. Scaling and root planing is often the first treatment for periodontal disease. After carefully examining the spaces between the teeth and gums and administering local anesthesia as needed, we use specialized instruments to thoroughly remove bacterial deposits. Our philosophy is to preserve natural teeth whenever possible, and when necessary we may recommend periodontal surgical procedures to help save them.
