Orthodontics continues to evolve, with options ranging from comprehensive treatment of the entire bite to limited treatment focused on specific teeth, such as the front teeth. Limited orthodontic treatment can often be completed in less time and at lower cost than comprehensive orthodontics. Comprehensive treatment can improve not only tooth alignment but also the bite and overall jaw balance. While extraction of several teeth was traditionally common in some orthodontic cases, non-extraction approaches may now be possible when appropriate. Current options include removable appliances, fixed brackets and wires, and clear aligner systems such as Invisalign.
